Music – a Mood Enhancer on Demand

What does music have to do with personality development?

Smelling and hearing have the most immediate sensory impact. So, making music and listening to music can significantly increase our memory capacity.

Music is the mood maker at the touch of a button. We can transfer ourselves into a desired mood with music. Music can make us calm, happy, melancholic, thoughtful or relaxed.

Images arise in our mind when we listen to certain music. With music we remember people, situations and places, i.e., the first dance with the beloved or Christmas songs with the family….

There are those empowering songs that motivate us and exude strength. The blues makes us rather melancholic; the ballad that makes us think. We know the pop rock, the subdued music by candlelight … the swing or dance music that invites us to move. There is the groove, the soul, the spirituals and much more.

Folk song, classical music, jazz, pop, rock, I can’t name them all. No matter what taste we have,  music will touch us.

Sounds can also influence us. Water splashing, birds singing, leaves rustling in the wind, rain dripping on a surface or the sound of waves. With each sound, we associate images and this, in turn, stimulates our creativity. With music we can intentionally influence our perspective, our perception of the world and  our thoughts.

Music stimulates our sensitivity.
